Urocit-K...potassium citrates, and 24 hour urine test

Post a new topicby ann59 on Wed May 21, 2008 12:38 am

Hi new to group....had 4 kidney stone operations, never passed one..One was a staghorn, struvite, they saved most of my kidney..

The kidney stone stuck in ureter, was removed in '99, since then there are still 2 stones, stuck in kidney, they are leaving it alone.don't have the size on me right now. I get yearly cat scans, and have been getting some recent 24 hour urine tests

the one in December says, low on citrates, increase Urocit-K to 6 a day..total 60 mg ....

Just had another one, citrates are better...Now they have a NP explain the results, and she said if i juice 1/2 cup lemon, and drink that, i can skip a dose of pills(3xday)......It was impossible to drink in a large glass, It would take me all day, to drink it, in 64 oz water..

They want me to drink 100 oz o water......and have no more than 50 grams of oxilate rich foods...showing risk for oxilate stones.

The NP did say salt can contribibute to oxilate...but what's up with the low citrates?....Anyone having these results...Thanks if anyone has any feedback
