calcification on a mammagram

Post a new topicby Guest on Mon Mar 25, 2002 9:38 pm

Dear Dr:
My mother had a mammagram which showed calcification on it . They have been watching it from year to year( she has a mammagram yearly). A friend of mine just had a mammagram which showed calcification and her Dr. wants to have it checked out. Is my mother's radiologist being negligent and not investigating these calcifications.

sincerly,

There are calcifications and there are calcifications. Some look definitely benign. Some look benign but bear watching over a short period time say 6 months or so. Some need to be biopsied. That's why it's so hard to be a radiologist.

Dear Doctor:
Thank you so very much for your prompt reply. I am very impressed. I will have my mother call the radiologist to discuss the type of calcifications. Again I thank you.
