Mam. machine

Post a new topicby Guest on Tue Mar 19, 2002 10:26 pm

1. What is the best mamogram machine that has the best resolution and least radiation?

2. What do you know about the image checker R2?

3. Can you tell me the difference between a digital mamogram and a regualar mamo?

I am concerned because I have large dense, breast, fiber cystic breasts.
Thank you so much, Johanna...

1. Most modern mammo machines offer excellent resolution and radiation control. Make sure the site has been accredited by the American College of Radiology.
2. The image checker is a computerized device that looks at the mammograms. Some people in the field find the machines useful, others do not. Personally, I think they can be helpful in finding tiny calcifications.
3. Routine mammograms are obtained by passing a beam of x-rays through the breast onto a film (analog). In digital mammograms the information is digitized and can be manipulated in all sorts of ways. Studies are currently being done to evaluate the digital vs. analog mammos. I suspect the digital mammograms will come out on top.
