mammo

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Feb 23, 2002 6:07 pm

My mammo report showed that I have low density areas, 3cm. I went because my doctor and I both felt something. Ultrasouond showed negative. What exactly is low density breasts? On the film, it was a dark area.

Dark areas on mammograms generally represent fatty tissue which is normal. Breast tissue can vary all the way from very low density (fat) to very high density (glandular tissue). As women get older the breast tissue generally gets more fatty. Things to worry about in the breast such as tumors are almost always of high density
