My husband is having some tests done to see if has an ulcer in his stomache. I was wondering if there were any particular medications he should NOT be taking (if it turns out he has an ulcer). At the moment, he is taking a perscription (each day) called atenolol for a mital-valve prolapse in his heart. We were wondering if this may have aggravated his stomache.
We have also heard that taking any anti-inflammatory pills is not good if you have an ulcer.
Any help you could provide would be great, thanks

Re: info about ulcersI am not really the person to ask, but I would not think that atenolol would have an adverse effect.
Anti-inflammatory drugs are often used as part of the treatment of ulcers. If there is serious concern of ulcer, your husband should be tested with either an upper endoscopy or an upper GI series.
