barium swallow study

my son at 13 months old had a swallow study done and was found to have a suckling pattern.can you tell me exactly what that is and also he is now 24 months old and has a little thickening in his upper esophagus and still has difficuties eating and feedingand eating thicker and bulky foods if to thick or whole like french fries or whole green beans he will gag.can you tell me what what causes thickening of the opening of the esophagus and could it cause feeding difficultties and could it have caused his past suckling pattern problem/thank-you very much for your help.[moderator note: e-mail address has been removed]

I am afraid that your question is out of the realm of general radiology. I would suggest that you find a pediatric or pediatric radiology website.
