I am a 40 yr. old southern woman 5'1" 130 lbs. Have had several years of pain under right rib cage. On and off diarrhea for the last yr. Now has been constant for 3 months. Nearly complete liquid within 30 minutes of eating. Although I knew that was impossible so imagined it was just spasms and leftover food. LOTS of pain most of the day. Doctor suspects gallstones. Finally went Friday Nov. 2 to get sonogram and UGI swallow. The attending doc and techy started and gave the fizzy and the barium. It all seemed rushed and the doctor seemed upset. I heard him ask over and over "Are you sure?" Techy kept saying positive. I asked what was happening. The doctor said that normally it takes a few hours for the barium to go from start to finish. But the barium had already reached my rectum in less than 8 minutes and they couldn't keep up with the film. The did a full shot including lower at this point. The doctor said it was rare but he had heard of this but couldn't remember the name of the condition. Believe it or not I can't find ANYTHING on the net about "fast tummy" or "lightning bowels" any ideas?

Re: fast tummy?I've been doing UGI's for 30 years. Did a bunch today. Fast transit times through the small bowel are very common and most often means nothing at all. Rarely such quick passage can indicate inflammatory changes of the small bowel which are often noticable on the x-rays.
