Passing blood:

Post a new topicby Guest on Sat Apr 06, 2002 11:31 pm

I'm a very active 41 year old male. I exercize daily. I attempt to eat a balanced diet. Two days previous, I noticed blood in my stool, and my curiosity is at an extreme level. Although this did occur, and I've been holding back on a waste deposit, tonight I finally went to the bathroom to relieve myself. The blood was still evident, but not as noticable. Do I have a problem? Is this common? Should I contact my physician? I did eat hot wings three night ago that did have very spicy seasonings. Also, my work has had my nerves on end. I've always considered myself to having a castiron stomach, so any help with this will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much!

Somehow I overlooked your question and just got to see now. I apologize. Certain foods can color the stool. There are very simple ways of determining if the coloring is blood or something else. If it really is blood, there are numerous very benign causes such as hemorrhoids and colonic polyps. Ulcers and inflammation anywhere can do it and there are, of course, tumors that can do it.
I am sure you have had this problem taken care of by now. I hope the results were okay. Again, I am sorry that I did not get back to you sooner.
